Not all wisdom teeth are made the same way. In some cases, wisdom teeth never erupt. Do you understand why? Find out in this post about wisdom teeth by continuing and reading on below. If you would like to have your wisdom teeth pulled, feel free to please call our office to arrange you a consultation visit with our doctor.

You may be familiar with the term “impacted teeth.” Impacted teeth are those which are surrounded by soft tissues, also known as the gums within the oral cavity. Because human jaws are smaller than they were in the past, wisdom teeth typically don’t have enough room to advance correctly. When they do advance, they regularly do so sideways and improperly. In some cases, when the wisdom teeth grow in partially but not completely, food debris can become lodged between the pearly whites and the gums, resulting in infection and eventual gum disease. This is why many doctors will recommend extracting the wisdom teeth even if they haven’t erupted all the way.

If you live in Centreville, Virginia, or the neighboring areas, phone 703.994.4626 to arrange your visit with Dr. Katherine B. Fischer & Charles C. Fischer and the team of Fischer Family and Cosmetic Dentistry. We’ll do our best to take care of you and your family.
