We hope you have a Spooktacular Halloween this holiday season. With all the ghosts and ghoulies coming our way, don’t get trapped ‘goblin’ down too many sweets. If you are not careful, you could find yourself spooked with a new cavity or two. Prevent dental damage by exercising safe and effective oral health care treatments this Halloween by setting up preventive measures to protect your teeth.

If you have any extra candy lying around, always dispose of it after Halloween. If you do not get rid of the excess candy, you may find yourself eating it long afterward. The longer that candy is in contact with your teeth, the longer that tooth decay can occur. Always make sure to keep your mouth clean through proper oral hygiene methods such as brushing and flossing and visiting your dentist for routine checkups and bi-annual professional cleanings.

Avoid any products that can easily chip or crack your teeth, including popcorn balls, candy apples, and hard candy. If you wish to forgo sweets & treats altogether, you can swap them out for healthier versions. If you have children, you can exchange your child’s treats that they collect during trick-or-treating festivities with alternative options such as money or toys.
