Brushing your teeth properly often depends on a myriad of factors. Even if you have the best utensils in the world, it doesn’t matter if you’re not using it correctly. Thus, make sure that you are taking your time and practicing brushing safely and effectively. If you have any additional questions, feel free to speak with your dentist. Not only can they help you with product recommendations, but they can also assist you with additional methods to make it easier and more effective.

When selecting your toothbrush, look for a product that has soft bristles. To avoid dental abrasion, be sure to use a non-abrasive toothpaste with your brush as well. Furthermore, take your time when brushing and be sure to reach all sides of each and every tooth. Your brush will wear down over time and need to be replaced every 3-4 months or earlier as needed.

The optimal angle to brush from is roughly 45 degrees. However, hold your brush straight up and down when brushing your front teeth. Also, make sure to always brush your teeth using slow and gentle circular motions. Because your brush will not be able to reach areas between teeth, an interdental cleaner in the form of dental floss or a water flosser will need to be used.
