Gum disease can be a tricky and sneaky dental problem that slowly takes over your smile if you let it. However, there are ways you can identify the disease, and that’s by looking for the following signs:

· A change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite down
· Gums that bleed easily
· Loose or shifting teeth
· Red, swollen, or tender gums
· Persistent bad breath
· A constant bad taste in your mouth
· Gums that have shriveled away from the teeth
· A change in the way your dentures fit in your mouth

If you notice these symptoms and schedule an appointment with Dr. Katherine B. Fischer & Charles C. Fischer immediately, our Fischer Family and Cosmetic Dentistry team will be able to eliminate the disease and save your smile. However, if you don’t keep an eye out for the mentioned signs, the disease can easily take over your chompers, irritate your gums, deteriorate your underlying bone, and cause loose and lost teeth. We do not want you to ever experience the consequences of this disease, so if you keep an eye out for the signs and call 703.994.4626 as soon as possible, you will be on the right track and we will be able to fight the disease.

If you have any questions or if you would like to know more, we encourage you to talk to our dental team when you come into our office or simply call us today! We are happy to assist you in any way we can.
